2021 Maggie Memorial Golf Tournament Friday June 25th at Traditions at the Glen.
The event is hosted by Endicott native and former NFL linebacker Isaiah Kacyvenski, with all
the proceeds going to the Children’s Home.
Isaiah’s mother, whom the tournament is named for, passed away when Isaiah was in his
senior year of high school.
Maggie spent the first 13 years of her life in the Children’s Home, and isaiah says that the
love that was shown to her there helped his mom through a very difficult childhood.
Isaiah spent many years of his childhood in poverty, but said his mother’s love helped them
get through dark times.
Isaiah worked his way to Harvard and, eventually, was drafted in the fourth round of the
2000 NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks.
Isaiah comes back to the area every year to host this tournament, bringing in former athletes
and celebrities join in.
With hosting such a big outing, I asked Isaiah what his mother would say to him if she could
see the yearly event that is put on in her honor.
“My mom was a very shy woman. I think she would be eternally grateful for everyone. I think
she would be a little embarrassed with the attention she’d be getting. But, in her passing, I
think it’s only fitting to show her the love and the honor that she deserved,” he said.
Some of the big names from this years tournament included former NFL quarterback Matt
Hasslebeck, former NHL player Tom Draper, and ESPN personality Trevor Scales.
Over the span of this event, the tournament has raised well over $300,000 for the Children’s Home
