Posted below are special events happening in our area today in honor of those who lost their lives in the terrorists attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.

– United Way of Broome County Color Ceremony
Guests are welcome to attend a static display of 2,977 flags that represent and honor those who lost their lives during the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon. This event kicks off the Day of Caring events.
TIME: 8 a.m. and later at 7:30 p.m.
LOCATION: United Way of Broome County. 101 S. Jensen Rd. Vestal, N.Y.

– 9/11 Red Cross Blood Drive
A blood drive held in conjunction with the 19th Annual Mitzvah Marathon, a signature program of the Rohr Chabad Center for Jewish Student Life at Binghamton University. The drive honors those who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001.
TIME: Noon to 6 p.m.
LOCATION: Veterans Memorial Arena. 1 Stuart St. Binghamton

– SUNY Broome will hold its annual 9/11 remembrance ceremony.

– Town of Owego Remembrance Ceremony
Emergency service personnel and the public are welcome to the “Not Forgotten” ceremony in the Town of Owego. The ceremony honors those who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks. Congressman Tom Reed will be the keynote speaker.
TIME: Events begin at 8:30 a.m.
LOCATION: Hickories Park, Owego. Near the 9/11 Memorial.

Binghamton 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony
Binghamton Mayor Rich David will hold a 9/11 remembrance ceremony at city hall’s 9/11 Memorial and World Trade Center steel beam on State Street.
TIME: 10:30 a.m.
