Binghamton Black Bears announce the hiring of their first Head Coach

Binghamton Black Bears team owner Andreas Johansson announced the hiring of James Henry as the first Head Coach in team history.

Henry has most recently served as an Assistant Coach for the Fayetteville Marksmen of the Southern Professional Hockey League. He also continues to be a mentor and consultant with Coast 2 Coast Player Development a group that includes San Jose Sharks Defenseman Brent Burns.

As a player Henry played for the Adirondack Thunder of the East Coast Hockey League where he was the team captain. He was an ECHL Player of the Month, a 4-time Community Service Award Recipient and is the Thunder’s franchise leader in games played, assists and total points.

This is not Henry’s first time in Binghamton as he attended Binghamton Devils training camp in 2019.

Henry says he’s excited to help open the next chapter of Binghamton’s hockey history.

The Binghamton Black Bears will kick off their inaugural season in October, for more information on the team and season tickets visit BinghamtonBlackBears.com
