Happy Birthday Rolling Stone

I have been a fan of Rolling Stone magazine for as long as I can remember. As I total lover of music, I couldn’t wait for the next issue and I read it cover to cover. In a time before the internet, it was THE source for everything in rock culture. Over the years it helped elevate rock culture into the mainstream.

Believe it or not, Rolling Stone published its first issue 50 years ago today. John Lennon, then filming the movie How I Won the War, was on the cover, in costume as Private Gripweed.

Since then, the magazine has charted every trend in music and pop culture, helping us get to know legendary artists such as Bruce Springsteen, U2, The Police, Eagles, Prince and Michael Jackson. Landing on the cover of Rolling Stone became such a career boost that the band Doctor Hook turned that message into a classic ’70s song.

Happy Birthday Rolling Stone!!!
