Science Will Save Us From a Chocolate Shortage

For years, candy industry experts have been warning us that we will soon be dealing with a chocolate shortage because farmers are having trouble keeping up with demand for cocoa plants. As a chocoholic, this made me a bit nervous. What would i do with out my Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup or Snickers Bar? Well i’d probably loose the weight i need to, but i wouldn’t be happy ..

Well, luckily we can forget about that warning and chow down — because scientists are tweaking the DNA of cocoa pods to make them bigger, sort of like the way they’ve messed around with tomatoes ..

Bigger cocoa pods means more chocolate production, which also means more happiness on planet earth for years to come ..
