I know the last thing I want to do when it’s freezing outside, is go for a walk or a run. It’s tough enough to get myself motivated, but once winter rolls around, I tend to veg a whole lot more. This recent major cold snap has not helped AT ALL ..
Well as usual I’m doing things wrong … a new study found that you burn more calories exercising in the cold that you do in warmer temps.
The reason is all about the body trying to warm itself in extreme temperatures. That internal warming, or thermogenesis, burns a lot of calories.
Unfortunately, it only works if you actually feel cold while you are exercising. Making yourself cozy by bundling up in lots of layers and a puffy down jacket won’t get the same results. So i guess i need to put down the hot chocolate and get myself moving this winter ..
