Want Better Service at Restaurants? Get Dressed Up

The next time you go out to eat, don’t show up in flip-flops and a tank top. A study found dressing up might get you better service . . .

Researchers at the University of Missouri had 222 waiters and waitresses look at pictures of random people, and guess whether each person would leave a good tip or not.

It turned out they were much more likely to assume they’d get a good tip from people in dress clothes. So if you dress up, you might get treated better.

It could make an even bigger difference for guys. Well-dressed men were seen as the best tippers. And guys who dressed casually were expected to leave the worst tips.
