The Top 5 movie for weekend 5/23 – 27

In what’s being called a disastrous Memorial Day weekend at the box office, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga edged out The Garfield Movie.

Furiosa is estimated to have earned $32 million between Friday and Monday, while The Garfield Movie took in an estimated $31.1 million. When final numbers are in, Garfield could be declared the winner. Still, it’s the worst Memorial Day weekend in three decades — excluding 2020 when theaters were closed because of COVID.

IF, starring Ryan Reynolds, was third with $21 million, followed by Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes ($17.1 million) and The Fall Guy ($7.6 million).
